In Nov 2005, BenQ signed a three-year sponsorship agreement with the National Palace Museum in Taipei (one of the world's top-five museums). The sponsorship is the largest of its kind signed by the National Palace Museum since its establishment in 1925. Under the terms of the agreement, BenQ will provide financial and in-kind support.
Now, two major exhibition projects of the sponsorship have completed: the "Grand View" exhibition (from Dec.25, 2006 to March 25, 2007) and "The Mystery of Bronzes" multi-media exhibition hall. These projects demonstrate the significant alliance of culture and technology where history, art and culture are presented through the lens of modern technology.
Sponsorship Highlights: • Equipment Sponsor BenQ has provided products worth NT$6 million ( US$0.2 million) to various exhibitions halls in the National Palace Museum and is proud to be the exclusive sponsor of "The Mystery of Bronzes" exhibition hall. This exhibition adopts modern technology in the forms of multimedia facilities to portray the technology development in the Shang and Chou dynasties (1766 - 256 B.C.). Through BenQ's line of multimedia products, the ancient Chinese technology of bronze ware making is presented in an informative and entertaining way.
• Financial Support The "Grand View" exhibition symbolizes an important milestone to the museum for which the opening of this exhibit marks the 80th anniversary of the National Palace Museum. The "Grand View" exhibits paintings, calligraphies, Ju ceramic wares and rare books from the Sung dynasty (960 - 1279 A.C.).
• Product Collaboration In addition to equipment sponsor and financial support, BenQ has also launched two 17-inch LCD monitors in collaboration with the National Palace Museum. The limited edition FP785+ features two classic masterpieces by Giuseppe Castiglione exclusively authorized by the museum. The FP785+ is an excellent example of BenQ's design philosophy – the meeting of opposites, where ancient Chinese painting meets modern technology. More collaborations of this nature are expected in the future.
